Ingles/ Geografia: que costumbres de navidad tenemos en Grecia?

Los costumbres que cada pais tiene en Navidad son muy especiales.
En las clases de Ingles y de Geografia en ingles hablamos sobre que hacen los griegos en cada dia de las vacaciones de Navidad, y luego los alumnos tenian que rellenar un papel con lo que hacen en su pais.

In Greece, we decorate Christmas trees, but also small ships to honor the people that work in ships.

24 of December

(Christmas’ Eve)
In the morning, children go to other people’s houses and sing a song about Jesus. People have to give them money or something to eat.

We usually eat with our families.


25 of December
(Christmas)
We eat with our family. The most typical dish is turkey filled with rice. The typical desserts are melomakarono and kurabies.


31 of December
(New Year’s Eve)
In the morning, children go to other people’s houses and sing a song about Santa Claus. People have to give them money or something to eat.

We have dinner all together.
At 00.00 we kiss each other and sing a song about the New Year.

We eat a dessert. Inside there is a coin. The one who wins the coin will have good luck.

We play the cards.

We sleep until late…

We eat with our families. 

6 of January
(Epifania)
A priest throws a cross into the sea. People jump into the sea and try to find it.
